BU-10 is a handheld biological hazard factor detector using Quantum Dot Lateral Flow technology, which combines immunochromatography with semiconductor quantum-dot fluorescent probes. It provides rapid qualitative and quantitative detection of bacteria and spores, viruses and toxins, with a single sample completed in under ten minutes.

Immunochromatographic strips are simple and fast, but read by eye they depend on the operator's judgement and struggle at low concentrations. BU-10 keeps the simplicity and removes the interpretation: the instrument collects and analyses the light signal from quantum-dot probes and reports an objective result rather than a line for someone to assess.
Quantum-dot probes provide high quantum yield, strong fluorescence and good stability, which is what allows both a sensitive reading and a quantitative one. Upgraded immunochromatography raises sensitivity further, while high specificity keeps cross-reactivity down so a result can be relied on.
The system comprises a main unit, test cartridges, sample-processing solution and standard accessories, and the reagents are harmless to samples and to the environment. A single sample completes in under ten minutes, battery life supports more than five hours of work, and up to a thousand results can be stored and exported.
